week 6 #javascript #react #reactjs

week 6

Since the last time I had time to think, I remember thinking “wow, I know so much more than I did the first week here!” Now, I’m self-reflecting again and I’m feeling that feeling but doubled the intensity. I am entering week 6 and I feel very comfortable creating a new project, styling a simple web app and even give it some functionalities on React.

Basically, the moment I realized that I’m actually absorbing and learning was when I found myself explaining state and props to someone. When I first started using React, I was really worried it wouldn’t click. I thought it was ten times harder than vanilla JavaScript. So on top of getting a deadly allergic reaction to something that made me miss three days of class, I couldn’t believe in just the matter of two days, everything looked so much brighter. It’s as if my code on my text editor went from Chinese to English. I finally understand what I was writing.

We have four more weeks of lecture and I wish it were more because at this rate, four weeks will go by too quickly. Even though I feel like I’ve learned so much, I still feel like I don’t know enough. I want to dive deeper into JavaScript and React but there are still simple tasks I can’t get to work on my own without giving up from frustration. That’s the one thing that makes me nervous and makes me feel a little stressed. (But I know it’s all in my head.) Anyway, we just got into APIs and I’m really excited to finish my portfolio so I could play around with Spotify’s data and maybe add a ‘what I’ve been listening to’ section to my blog. Because lets not forget music is very important.
